Doyle in line for Ireland debut

DERBY County’s highly-rated American-born striker Conor Doyle is in line for a debut when the Irish U21s take on Cyprus in a friendly in Larnaca today (kick off 2.30pm local time).

Shamrock Rovers defender Enda Stevens was a late call-up for the squad after defenders Gavin Gunning (Motherwell) and Shane O’Connor (Ipswich Town) had to withdraw because of injury.

“It’s a good chance for us to have a look at some new players,” said Noel King, who is using the game as part of his build-up for the European Championship qualifying campaign.
