Ireland star Cunningham facing four-month lay-off
Cunningham, on loan from Manchester City, suffered a broken leg after Hullâs Liam Roseniorâs late tackle on 62 minutes which earnt him a red card.
Leicester manager Sven Goran Eriksson said: âItâs a broken tibia, which could mean he is probably away for four months.
âIt is important to say that as far as Rosenior was concerned, it was not stupid. It was bad luck and he didnât mean to do it, so there should be no shadow over him.â
Hull boss Nigel Pearson insisted there was no malice in Roseniorâs tackle on Cunningham.
âLiamâs distraught; it was just slightly mistimed with two players going for the ball.
âThere was no malice in the challenge. If you know the player youâd be very aware of that.â
Meanwhile first-team coach David Platt refused to be drawn on Manchester Cityâs chances of signing striker Edin Dzeko. City have been linked with a move for Wolfsburgâs Dzeko, with talks reportedly underway.
âYouâre asking the wrong man,â Platt said. âIf the club believes thereâs a bit of business they can do that helps us, if they can do it, theyâll do it.â
