Keane wants to quit Lane

HARRY REDKNAPP has said that he would be happy to see Robbie Keane remain at Spurs, but that the Ireland captain himself wants to leave.

Keane has struggled to get game time at Spurs this season, with Roman Pavyluchenko, Jermain Defoe and Peter Crouch ahead of him in the pecking order at the club.

The arrival of Rafael van der Vaart has also made things difficult for the Dubliner, with Spurs often playing a lone striker.

Keane is widely expected to move in the January transfer window and has been linked to West Ham, Wolves, Aston Villa, Birmingham and Blackburn.

Redknapp said: “He is a boy who has played all his career, he has not been used to not playing. He is a fantastic player and would grace most Premier League clubs.

“If the right offer comes in, it will be up to the club and the chairman. I think Robbie will want to go and play, but he will not want to go anywhere. It has got to be a move he fancies otherwise he will stay and fight for his place.”
