Cool Keane’s Ipswich outfox Sven

ROY KEANE lives to fight another day after his Ipswich side beat Sven-Goran Eriksson’s Leicester 3-0 in an extraordinary game played in a near blizzard conditions at Portman Road on Saturday evening.

Controversial young referee Stuart Attwell — the official who awarded a ‘ghost goal’ in a match between Watford and Reading in 2008 — gave the live TV game the go-ahead after a lunchtime pitch inspection despite forecasts of heavy snow in the Ipswich area around the 5.20pm kick-off time.

The snow duly arrived and by half-time, with the pitch under an increasingly thick covering and the blue-painted lines disappearing, goals from skipper David Norris and two from Jason Scotland had seen Keane’s Blues into a three-goal lead.
