Pires poised to make Villa debut

ROBERT PIRES has agreed a short-term deal with Aston Villa.

The former Arsenal midfielder has accepted a six-month contract which will make him Villa manager Gerard Houllier’s first signing when finalised.

The 37-year-old has been a free agent since his release by Villarreal in the summer and has been training with Arsenal for the past two months.
