CHELSEA’S defensive injury crisis deepened last night with the news Brazilian centre-back Alex was likely to be out for two months because of a knee problem, joining captain John Terry on the sidelines.

Terry is set to see “various specialists” to resolve his long-term nerve injury, which could see him out for months, while Alex will now miss the next six to eight weeks with an ongoing knee injury, the club have confirmed.

The Brazilian has already been absent from the Blues’ last two Premier League fixtures against Fulham and Sunderland because of his knee problem.
