Gers stunned by lowly Hibs

RANGERS suffered their first SPL defeat of the season, as Colin Calderwood celebrated his first win as manager of Hibernian.

The Easter Road side headed into the clash at Ibrox joint bottom and with few backing them to cause an upset but they stunned their hosts thanks to goals from Liam Miller, John Rankin and Francis Dickoh.

The victory took Hibs to eighth while Rangers were able to retain their single-point advantage at the summit after Celtic suffered defeat at Hearts.

Irish international Miller opened the scoring after just six minutes an ambitious 30-yard strike. Allan McGregor initially appeared to have the shot covered but a slight deflection took the effort past the Rangers goalkeeper.

Rankin doubled the lead in the 19th minute and Dickoh sealed the upset 14 minutes from time.

RANGERS: McGregor, Whittaker, Bougherra, Weir, Papac (Broadfoot 45), Davis, Edu (Weiss 43), McCulloch, Naismith, Miller, Lafferty.

HIBERNIAN: Brown, Hart, Bamba, Murray (Thicot 63), Grounds, Wotherspoon (Galbraith 63), Dickoh, De Graaf, Miller, Rankin, Trakys (Hogg 89).
