Hughes: Duff can get even better for Fulham
The Irishman’s career appeared to be in freefall as his own-goal confirmed Newcastle’s relegation from the Premier League 18 months ago. But Fulham spent €5m to bring him to Craven Cottage that summer and he impressed as the club reached the Europa League final last season.
Hughes has since replaced Roy Hodgson as manager, but as the Welshman prepares to play Duff at left-back as his injury-hit side take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge tonight, he admits that he would be lost without the 31-year-old.
