O’Neill’s timing has left us high and dry

TO say it’s been a whirlwind of a day to be an Aston Villa supporter would be an understatement.

Yesterday morning we were hearing rumours that Stephen Ireland was at Bodymoor Heath [Villa’s training ground] then yesterday afternoon hearing that Martin O’Neill had, in fact, resigned with immediate effect.

Two words summed up how I felt after I realised it wasn’t a joke being played on me and they were ‘anger’ and ‘shock’.
