Amond strikes late as Sligo deliver

The students looked to be on their way to salvaging a precious point when Ciaran Kilduff levelled two minutes from time before Amond struck for his second of the night, a minute into stoppage time.

UCD keeper Gerrard Barron making his first appearance of the season for the students following injury, did well to keep a John Russell shot out on 12 minutes as Paul Cook’s side exerted their superiority.

Dwane Wilson and Keith Ward were involved in a promising UCD move after 17 minutes but Ward failed to find the target.

The deadlock was broken in the 28th minute when Amond beat Barron with a crisp finish from close range.

Sligo then missed a great chance to double their advantage in the 32nd minute when Joseph Ndo failed to finish from a couple of yards.

The Students looked to have salvaged a precious point as Kilduff struck his late goal before Amond struck for a dramatic winner.
