Les Bleus aiming for more glory

THE France squad got some shooting practice in yesterday – but not the type they’ll be making at the World Cup finals next month.

As part of their altitude training in preparation for South Africa, the French squad were taken shooting in the French Alps resort of Tignes.

Outgoing France boss Raymond Domenech will hope the exercise will have sharpened up his side’s aim for the finals.

While French stars such as Franck Ribery and Thierry Henry were firing yesterday, Laurent Blanc’s ascent to the position of France coach was being confirmed after Bordeaux agreed a deal with the French Football Federation (FFF) to let him go.

The 44-year-old left Les Girondins on Sunday after a disappointing season, prompting FFF president Jean-Pierre Escalettes to confirm Blanc as his preferred choice to succeed Raymond Domenech after the finals in South Africa.

Blanc hung up his playing boots in 2003 after a two-year stint with Manchester United.
