IPSWICH TOWN manager Roy Keane has hailed his old international boss Brian Kerr, blaming the players — including himself — for Ireland not qualifying for the 2006 World Cup.

The Corkman lamented that Kerr became the forgotten man of Irish football, saying the Faroe Islands manager can rightly feel hard done by.

“Brian Kerr I found to be a very good manager. It didn’t work out for Brian with the senior squad with Ireland, but I blame the players for that, myself included. Ireland should have gone to the World Cup,” said Keane.
