Torres eyeing run of form

FERNANDO Torres surveyed a rapidly emptying Anfield after his stunning performance and ruminated on exactly what could have been this season.

As Steve Bruce, the Sunderland manager, pointed out afterwards, when he is in the type of mood that struck him at Anfield he is virtually unstoppable.

Unfortunately for him, while defences have been unable to stop him in the majority of games he has played in – he now has 18 Premier League goals from just 22 matches this term – his body has been more than willing to let him down.
