Messi now top earner

BARCELONA’S Lionel Messi has ended David Beckham’s two-year reign as the best-paid soccer player, France Football magazine reported, citing its annual rich list.

World player of the year Messi’s salary and endorsements rose to €33m, €2.6m more than Los Angeles Galaxy’s Beckham.

The 22-year-old Messi was second to Beckham, 34, last year.
