Sponsors on board but City suffer player blow
Early in the day the new club were hit with the news that three players they wished to sign, Admir Softic along with striker Declan Edwards and Italian full-back Samuele Emiliano, did not receive international clearance and are ineligible to join the club. The players’ contractual situation at their previous clubs, which came to light after the request for international clearance was made, meant that the players were not eligible to sign for the club after the transfer window closed.
City boss Tommy Dunne confirmed last night that he is in talks with two players in Finland and another two in Cork. The City boss has done a remarkable job already in putting together a squad in such a short space of time and earning a point against all the odds in Derry last Friday night. However, Dunne currently has only 14 registered players for Friday’s eagerly awaited Munster derby clash with promotion hopefuls Waterford United at Turner’s Cross.
