Pompey cash probe begins

THE administrator in charge of Portsmouth says he is going to go through every transfer “one by one” to get to the bottom of the club’s financial mess. Andrew Andronikou said yesterday: “I will probably need another week to get to see the exact figures.”

He is hoping his investigations will discover how the club found themselves in such a position, despite raising around €113 million in player sales over the last 20 months.

One line of inquiry is whether the money Portsmouth received for players was the same as the reported amounts.
