Aston Villa in it to win it, says Petrov

SKIPPER Stiliyan Petrov insists Aston Villa are not heading to Wembley just to make up the numbers in tomorrow’s Carling Cup final with Manchester United and claimed: “it will only be enjoyable if we win.”

And the Bulgaria international is confident Martin O’Neill’s crop of young English talent – the likes of Gabriel Agbonlahor, Ashley Young and James Milner – will handle the pressure of a major occasion.

Petrov suffered the agony of losing the 2003 UEFA Cup final to Porto in Seville when he played under O’Neill at Celtic and experienced bad dreams about the defeat.
