Rebel Murphy roves as City seek salvation

AS negotiations continue to secure a rescue package for the embattled club, the player exodus from Cork City continues with Danny Murphy poised to join Shamrock Rovers.

City confirmed the full-back’s departure yesterday, with Rovers the favourites to land the man who was lauded on the Turner’s Cross terraces as ‘The Cockney Rebel’.

A move to Tallaght Stadium would not see the 27-year-old short of familiar faces, with ex-City players Dan Murray, Billy Dennehy and Pat Sullivan already at the Dublin club.
