Baggies top as Rams thump the Toon

WEST BROM leapfrogged Newcastle to go top of the Coca-Cola Championship after they claimed a 2-0 win over Scunthorpe last night while Newcastle suffered a 3-0 defeat at Derby.

The Baggies went ahead in the 13th minute through Roman Bednar and Gianni Zuiverloon sealed victory with four minutes remaining.

Derby went ahead at Pride Park five minutes before half-time courtesy of a Rob Hulse header before goals from Kris Commons and Shaun Barker put an end to the Magpies’ 15-game unbeaten league run.
