Allardyce: Burnley didn’t do enough to keep Coyle

BLACKBURN boss Sam Allardyce does not feel that Burnley fought hard enough to keep Owen Coyle.

Coyle is poised to complete a move to Bolton, subject to the clubs agreeing a compensation package and Allardyce does not feel that the Clarets did enough to stop the Scot agreeing to move to his former club.

“I think it’s a big loss for Burnley,’’ said Allardyce, who enjoyed an eight-year stint at the Reebok Stadium.

“They should have broken the bank to keep him because he has shown to be single-handedly, the key, most important person at Burnley for many, many years.

“They should have gone a lot farther to try and keep him.

“Bolton have got themselves a very good young manager if that gets sorted out over the next few days.’’

Stoke manager Tony Pulis, who takes his team to Burnley tomorrow, feels Coyle has made the right decision for himself.

“Owen has got to do what Owen has got to do,’’ Pulis said.

“Managers have decisions to make and Owen has made that decision and I am sure everyone at Burnley will be disappointed.’’

Swansea boss Paulo Sousa admits he is flattered to hear his name linked to the vacant managerial position at Burnley.

The former QPR boss explained: “My ambition is to grow and I have said I want to go to the Premier League, of course.

“I am proud to be linked to Burnley. It is very important for me and for everyone to be recognised and it means we (Swansea) are doing well once more.”
