Aggrieved McCarthy feels singled out over team selections
The former Republic of Ireland coach came under fire when he rotated all 10 outfield players for the 3-0 Barclays Barclays Premier League defeat at Manchester United last month.
He made half a dozen changes for Sunday nightâs 1-0 FA Cup victory over Tranmere but feels he is not being treated the same as his Premier League counterparts, with United and Arsenal both sending out under-strength teams â with differing outcomes â in the third round.
âWas it six changes? Is everyone counting now?â said McCarthy.
âEveryone makes a lot of my team selection but I pick a team to win the games.
âI might think about the league game like all these big-name managers do who never seem to be disrespecting any competition â only me... what a load of tosh that is eh?â
McCarthy has hailed the form of Michael Mancienne but insists he has ânever discussedâ the possibility of making the on loan Chelsea playerâs move permanent.
Mancienne has impressed McCarthy with his versatility, slotting in at left-back, right-back, central defence and, most recently, in central midfield since joining Wolves on a season-long loan.
But McCarthy has made no moves to try and lure Mancienne, who will turn 22 this week, away from Stamford Bridge for good.
When asked if the move could become permanent, McCarthy said: âWe have never discussed that.
âWe took him on loan and whether I would like or him or not, it has never been discussed.ââ
