Moyes hopes for more from his prize Yak

DAVID MOYES has had precious little to enthuse over in a trying season at Everton, but here – at last – was a light in the tunnel which was not attached to an oncoming train.

The Merseysiders remain mired in lower mid-table but they can at least celebrate a sprightly display from Ayegbeni Yakubu after the striker continued his return from injury against Aston Villa.

Yakubu was sidelined for almost a year with a ruptured achilles tendon but made his second start of the week in the 1-1 draw at Goodison Park.
