Spurs supporters usually prefer their strikers to operate with a little more finesse than the determinedly muscular Davies, but their manager Harry Redknapp makes no apologies for rating the Bolton forward.

Davies was in typically bruising form for Wanderers on Saturday, leaving poor Tom Huddlestone – the midfielder once again filling in for Ledley King at centre-back – traumatised in front of watching England manager Fabio Capello.
