Now fit again following a string of injury setbacks, the Czech winger made his first start since January 2008 in Wednesday night’s Champions League Group H opener away to Standard Liege, where the Gunners fought back from going 2-0 down inside five minutes to win with a late strike from Eduardo.

While there may have been a touch of good fortune about Thomas Vermaelen’s scrappy second-half equaliser, when Alex Song looked offside and used a hand as he knocked the ball back into the six-yard box, Rosicky believes the manner of the turnaround will have sent a message this young Arsenal side are in it for the long-haul.
