Pat’s look to maintain momentum
There is a full series of matches this evening and Pat’s host league leaders Bohemians at Richmond Park (7.45pm) looking to repeat their 3-1 victory over the Inchicore side earlier this season.
Bohs boss Pat Fenlon is on a high too having watched his side maintain their stranglehold at the summit of the table with a 1-0 home win over Cork City on Friday night.
“I thought we tried to win the game and got our rewards. The first half was a bit scrappy but we upped it in the second half and put them under a fair bit of pressure,” said Fenlon of that victory. “It should be a good game (against Pat’s).”
Fenlon is hopeful of having Owen Heary fully fit while Jason McGuinness remains out with a back injury and Anto Murphy (ankle) misses out too.
Both Mark Quigley and Gary Dempsey are fit for Pat’s but manager Jeff Kenna must do without the suspended Declan O’Brien and Gareth O’Connor.
“In the last four weeks the level of performance in the European games has been excellent,” said Kenna. “That level has to remain between now and the end of the season and I expect all the players to approach this game against Bohemians the same way they did the games against Krylya.”
Cork City host second-placed Shamrock Rovers at Turner’s Cross (7.45pm) tonight with manager Paul Doolin hoping to bounce back from that narrow defeat to Bohs.
“I feel we were unfortunate not to have got something out of the game,” said Doolin. “But now we have to focus on getting three points against Rovers. Shamrock Rovers come into Tuesday’s game in a really good vein of form and will be tough opponents.”
Gareth Cambridge is set to start up front after recovering from a hamstring injury he picked up in the win over Bray, while Joe Gamble will also be available despite a knee problem.
Ian Bermingham (knee) remains sidelined for the visitors while Sean O’Connor and Dessie Baker return after suspension. Paddy Kavanagh will be the subject of a late fitness test.
Gavin Peers and Ger Rafter are Paul Cook’s only real injury worries ahead of Sligo Rovers clash with Derry City at the Showgrounds (8pm).
Derry travel without Liam Kearney (broken leg), Mark McChrystal (cheek bone) and Sammy Morrow (ankle ligaments). “It’s as strong a squad as we’ve had available in around three months,” said Stephen Kenny.
In the evening’s other two matches, Dundalk will look to make it back-to-back wins when they welcome Bray Wanderers to Oriel Park while Galway United host Drogheda United at Terryland Park (both 7.45pm).
