Ferguson hails trio’s consistency

ALEX FERGUSON has hailed veteran stars Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes and Gary Neville as “the spirit of Manchester United”.

After man-of-the-match displays from Giggs and Scholes recently, the third member of Ferguson’s old guard, Neville, yesterday extended his contract by another year.

It ensures the traditions and examples set by the thirty-somethings will be on show for another 15 months at least, and possibly more if they maintain present levels of fitness and form.
