O’Neill confident Villa can progress

ASTON VILLA manager Martin O’Neill is optimistic his side can still reach the last 16 of the UEFA Cup despite being held to a 1-1 home draw by CSKA Moscow last night.

The Russian side snatched a precious away goal through Vagner Love – his ninth strike in seven European games this season.

But John Carew’s second-half effort has given the midlands club a lifeline for the return meeting next Thursday.
