ROBBIE KEANE cracked a grim smile when it was put to him that he might be on the verge of recording an unwanted first: collecting a Premier League winner’s medal and suffering relegation in the same season.

“It has been mentioned,” he said, ruefully. “I think I’d give the medal to my brother. He’s a Liverpool fan, although he might follow Tottenham again now, I suppose.”
