Kinnear: City’s £5m Given bid ‘an insult’

NEWCASTLE manager Joe Kinnear has described Manchester City’s initial approaches for Republic of Ireland goalkeeper Shay Given as an ‘insult’.

Kinnear confessed on Wednesday that the goalkeeper is eager to end his 11-year stay at St James’ Park.

However, the Magpies boss is adamant that he and owner Mike Ashley will not be accepting the ‘derisory offer’ of £5m (€5.5m) which has been tabled by City boss Mark Hughes.
