IT’S another double for Bohemians.

Heary named Personality of the Year as Bohemians pull off another double

At a banquet in Dublin, Bohs full-back and captain Owen Heary was named Personality of the Year while Brian Murphy picked up the goalkeeper of the year gong.

And, posthumously, the Special Merit award went to revered coach Noel O’Reilly, who passed away in September.

Meanwhile, embattled Drogheda United have begun a push to raise €100,000 within the next seven days in order to help save the club from extinction.

Wednesday night’s Emergency Public Meeting was considered a huge success as more than 400 fans turned out to pledge their support and their cash. With an initial target of €100,000 to be raised, it’s understood the club have already raised around €50,000 and are asking for the support of the public over the next week.

The club offices at United Park will be open over the weekend, and supporters are encouraged to donate what they can to the club. Platinum, Gold and Silver donations of €500, €300 and €100 can be made, while supporters can also join the revamped 500 Club for just €25 per month.

Terry Collins of Drogheda United said: “It’s been an excellent start, with thousands already raised. But we still have a long way to go. On behalf of everyone at the club, I’d like to thank all the supporters who have helped us out through donations and fundraising. “Yesterday morning a local businessman rang me to pledge €10,000, while last night, the family of the late Nicky Hanlon, who was involved with the club for years, donated €5,000 to the club. We’re overwhelmed by the support we’ve been receiving and we’re hopeful that we can raise the money to save our club.”
