Caught in a Jack trap

HE hasn’t gone away, you know, and regardless of how frustrated he has become, he’d be well advised not to go anywhere any time soon.

I speak, of course, of Andy Reid, the man whose continued omission from Giovanni Trapattoni’s team has become something of a national talking — no, make that, shouting — point.

Once again this week Reid was confined to a watching brief while the action unfolded against Cyprus and then, just as predictably, he once again took centre-stage in the television studio and press conference room as the great debate raged on.
