Clichy ‘lucky’ to be playing after Davies tackle

ARSENAL defender Gael Clichy feels he is “lucky” to be able to play against Hull today and believes Bolton’s Kevin Davies should have been shown a red card for the reckless challenge on the French man last week.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger said yesterday the art of tough tackling has a place in the beautiful game — but maintains “excessive force” must always be punished by a red card.

And Clichy’s view of the Davies challenge? “I have seen it again many times. The only thing I can say is that it was a stupid challenge. I don’t understand how people can say it’s a good challenge.
