Bennett makes exit at Reading

FORMER Cork City defender Alan Bennett says he is determined to bounce back after Steve Coppell showed him the door at Reading.

Centre-half Bennett was left behind when the Reading squad set off for a pre-season tour of Sweden last week and the player is now having to come to terms with the fact that his future lies elsewhere after he struggled to establish himself at the club he joined from Leeside in January of last year.

Says Bennett: “The manager just reckons I’ve come to a full stop in terms of my progress here. I think I can give more. I don’t think I’ve been given a fair chance. But he’s made up his mind.
