City chase seventh straight win

CORK City will enter tomorrow evening’s match against St Patrick’s Athletic looking for their seventh league win in-a-row (Turner’s Cross, live on Setanta Ireland, 7pm).

Pats’ draw at home to Shamrock Rovers last Monday has given their hosts added incentive in what is becoming an exciting title fight and this is the first of a run of three games in the space of a week for City, but manager Alan Mathews is taking the positives from the fixture list facing his side.

“It is a busy schedule but I am not complaining as having so many games means we are doing well, and the only thing we can do is take each game on its own merits,” he said. “We go into the game on Sunday on the back of a good run, and we need to maintain that.”
