Sky and Setanta reveal TV fixtures
Champions Manchester United, Chelsea, and Arsenal are all in action on the opening weekend on Sky Sports, kicking off 35 live games the channel will show between August and November.
The curtain-raiser on opening day, Saturday, August 17 is West Brom’s visit to Arsenal, while the following day, Sky cameras are at Chelsea for the visit of FA Cup winners Portsmouth and Luiz Felipe Scolari’s first game in charge.
Champions Manchester United complete a double header as they play host to Kevin Keegan’s Newcastle United in Sunday’s second game.
In addition each clash between last year’s top four; Liverpool v Manchester United (September 13), Chelsea v Manchester United (September 21), Chelsea v Liverpool (October 26), Arsenal v Manchester United (November 8), and Chelsea v Arsenal (November 30) will also be shown.
This season Sky will offer 92 live matches from the Premier League and will show delayed coverage of another 242 games.
Setanta Sports also confirmed the first 32 of its 79 games. On the opening day Setanta will cover Aston Villa’s clash with Manchester City at Villa Park followed by Liverpool’s trip to Roy Keane’s Sunderland.
Liverpool fans will get a chance to see their team on Setanta nine times in the opening 16 weeks of the season, while Manchester United will be in action eight times. Arsenal fans will also get a chance to see their team’s fluid skills in six games on Setanta in the first couple of months.
