And they thought it couldn’t get any worse ...

OH to be a fly on the wall the next time the Italian football team assemble for a game, following comments from goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon’s wife about how attractive her husband’s teammates are.

Mrs Buffon — better known as beauty queen Alena Seredova, who was the Vice Miss Czech Republic in 1998 — appears to have an eye for some of the other members of the Azzurri team, and she wasn’t shy about ranking them in order of attractiveness.

“I am a great supporter and I follow the national team with my father,” Seredova said in an interview on the Alfonso Signorini Show. “I get emotional with every save Gigi makes, but a woman must admit that the two sexiest players in the national team are on the bench,” she said, before going on to name names.

For those wondering who Seredova would spring from the subs’ bench, the Czech named Fabio Cannavaro and Marco Borriello as the sexiest of the Italian players.

Seredova, who gave birth to Buffon’s first child, a boy named Louis Thomas, was part of the Italian WAGs (wives and girlfriends) contingent at the championships.

Fortunately — or unfortunately, depending on your viewpoint — Marco Borriello is already spoken for. Milan striker Borriello is engaged to model Belen Rodriguez, so it appears that Buffon has nothing to worry about.

In fact, he probably need not worry about Cannavaro either, as the World Cup-winning captain is more interested in Asian ladies.

He is reported to have told League magazine last year: “The most beautiful of women lie in Asia, that in India and China, they are truly walking goddesses”.
