McCaffrey’s U17s gear up for crunch Euro qualifiers
Ireland topped their European Championship first phase qualifying mini-group in September with a maximum nine points from three games and have home advantage once more for the second elite section.
The Irish will open against Germany on March 13 at Terryland Park in Galway followed by a meeting with Greece two days later at Lissywoollen Stadium in Athlone. Their final group game comes on 18 March when they face Portugal back at Terryland Park.
The winner of the pool advance to the European Championships in Turkey next May.
McCaffrey can call upon Kallum Keane, Gearóid Morrissey and Darragh Satelle after they missed the first qualifying phase due to injury. The recently crowned FAI/eircom U16 player of the year for 2007, Conor Clifford, is also included in the panel along with two local Galway players, Ger Hanley and Greg Cunningham.
