Crocked Cech set to miss festive period

PETR Cech has added to Chelsea’s injury woes during their most demanding period of the season after suffering a hip injury during his side’s victory at Ewood Park.

The goalkeeper suffered the problem in a challenge with Blackburn forward Roque Santa Cruz and despite carrying on for several minutes was eventually forced to hobble off and be replaced by Hilario.

Cech will undergo scans to determine the extent of the damage but could be sidelined for several weeks and his absence will be a major blow to manager Avram Grant.
