MIDDLESBROUGH blew the Premier League title race wide open yesterday as they handed Arsenal their first defeat of the season.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger admitted Boro deserved to end Arsenal’s 22 game unbeaten League run with a 2-1 win at the Riverside.

“We lost the game because we deserved to lose it,” said a magnanimous Wenger. “It’s that simple. Middlesbrough were sharper in the fight. From then on, it was down to us being a little bit jaded physically.”
