Bramble gifted Geovanni the second-fastest goal in the Premier League this season when his miserable attempt at a pass to Kevin Kilbane ended up falling at the Brazilian’s feet.

The error re-ignited the debate over Bramble’s suitability as a top- flight defender but Kirkland confirmed there will be no recriminations inside the Wigan dressing room for the €7.5 million signing from Newcastle.
