Finalists await reply to appeal

CORK CITY and Longford Town are still awaiting response to their appeals against the respective FAI Cup final suspensions handed down to Neal Horgan and Gary Deegan.

Horgan picked up a yellow in the Cup semi-final at Bohs while Deegan was booked in his side’s last league match against Derry City. In the likelihood that the FAI will not set such a precedent, Cork City manager Damien Richardson will decide between Cillian Lordan and the experience of Colin O’Brien for the vacant right back role.

Lordan, 25, has played at right back on several occasions as a deputy for Horgan, while 32-year-old O’Brien is also comfortable in the role. The pair played a half apiece in Sunday’s 2-1 friendly defeat to Cobh Ramblers at St Colman’s Park.
