Reds rocked by injuries

RAFAEL BENITEZ was left reeling after Fernando Torres and Xabi Alonso suffered new injury setbacks during the 1-1 draw against Arsenal which are expected to rule them out for several weeks.

Torres, Liverpool’s €30million record signing, lasted just 45 minutes on his return from a thigh injury while Alonso, who had missed Liverpool’s previous eight games, lasted 67 minutes before he limped out with another suspected metatarsal fracture.

Benitez said it was too early to say how long the Spanish duo will be sidelined for this time. But the news is a bitter blow for Benitez with his side struggling to make an impression in the Premier League and Champions League ambitions at crisis point.
