Kanouté class sees Sevilla sink AEK as Slavia shock Ajax

UEFA Cup holders Sevilla made a positive impact following their step up to Europe’s elite club competition with victory over AEK Athens.

The Spanish hosts won the first leg of their Champions League third qualifying round tie 2-0, with goals from Luis Fabiano and ex-West Ham and Tottenham forward Frederic Kanouté.

Former winners Ajax have a mountain to climb against Slavia Prague after David Kalivoda’s 76th minute goal earned the Czechs a 1-0 victory in Amsterdam.
