Rush: Benitez will spend investment wisely

LIVERPOOL legend Ian Rush has backed manager Rafael Benitez to handle the transfer-market aspirations of the club’s new owners.

As Rush was claiming yesterday that Benitez has the talent to wheel and deal in the market, the focus tightened on Liverpool’s future spending power as the Reds were linked with two Barcelona players.

The Reds and Barcelona – the two most recent winners of the Champions League — are preparing to face one another at the Nou Camp in a last-16 first-leg tie next Wednesday.
