THE eircom League war may be over but another battle rages on.

Shels chief Byrne to persist with legal battle

Despite his club securing the title on the pitch against Bohemians on Friday night, Shelbourne chief executive Ollie Byrne is persisting with legal action over the Sean Hargan affair and, if successful, the result would have a significant impact on the final league placings and qualification for Europe.

Derry City fielded defender Hargan while suspended earlier in the season but the club successfully appealed on the grounds that the League and the FAI’s disciplinary commission had failed to abide by the correct procedures.
