ALEX FERGUSON has launched a fierce attack on Luiz Felipe Scolari over the Portugal coach’s claims that Carlos Queiroz was after his job.

Scolari’s outburst came after Queiroz had attended Portugal’s Euro 2008 qualifying win over Kazakhstan on Wednesday, when United winger Cristiano Ronaldo scored one of his country’s three goals.

Scolari said Queiroz had told him United were offering contrasting public and private positions over Ronaldo’s ankle injury before going on to wonder if Ferguson’s assistant was “hanging around” the Portugal squad in the hope he would one day get the head coach’s role.
