REAL MADRID president Ramon Calderon has reiterated his belief that David Beckham will sign a contract extension.

Beckham, whose current deal runs out next summer, recently revealed his frustration at being used mainly as a substitute this season under new Real coach Fabio Capello. The former England captain has started five of the last six Real games on the bench, and he admitted he would find it difficult to spend the next two years in that position.

However, Calderon is confident Beckham will remain at the Bernabeu, and when asked if he thought the midfielder’s contract would be renewed, he said: “Yes, I think so. He is happy in the new house that has been built, and with his children’s school. His kids already speak Spanish.
