Staunton to meet Robson

REPUBLIC of Ireland manager Steve Staunton and FAI Chief Executive John Delaney will meet with Bobby Robson, pictured, in England today, amid renewed optimism that the consultant will once again be able to take up his role.

Staunton to meet Robson

Robson was due to have a scan in London yesterday but has stated his doctors have told him that he is fit to resume his work as a key part of the Irish management team.

The FAI had always insisted that Robson’s future would be guided entirely by medical advice and, despite reports linking Kenny Dalglish and Alan Curbishley to the mentor position, it’s understood that the Association had not attempted to replace the 73-year-old pending a definitive medical judgement.
