O’Neill vows to spend transfer budget wisely

MANAGER Martin O’Neill has promised not to waste the transfer kitty which will be given to him by new Aston Villa owner Randy Lerner for the January window.

And O’Neill is confident of being backed by the American billionaire when Villa, currently unbeaten this season, hit a rocky patch and anticipates no interference in team matters.

The Irishman said: “Mr Lerner will obviously have to put a bit of trust into me, which he realises, because we don’t really know each other well.
