SO THERE we were, out for dinner in Limassol the other night and, once appraised of our reason for being in Cyprus, the friendly, middle-aged owner suddenly began asking us how Derek Dougan was and how Pat Jennings was.

And there were we thinking our host might know a little bit about living on a divided island.

No matter, football talk acknowledges no boundaries and it quickly became apparent that our man knew his stuff.
